I lived in Tokyo for six years. In 2004, Outside magazine gave me the opportunity to return for an article about Japan's potential (since over-fulfilled) as a destination for outdoor adventure and tourism.

As a lifelong cyclist, I had some thoughts when doping scandals decimated the sport. Outside Magazine let me write them out.
